Job Description

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations, and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.

The Printing Section provides print material to the entire New York City Police Department. The Printing Section produces posters, banners, multiset snap-out forms, pamphlets, booklets, range targets, signage, executive stationery and other print related materials, as requested by the Department.

The Bookbinder, assigned to the Printing Section, performs the operation of various commercial grade bindery machines to collate, assemble, stitch, drill, glue, fold, laminate, cut printed materials and binding. Other duties include the minor repair or service of bindery equipment, books, portfolios, periodicals and other related tasks.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in operating various commercial grade machines which assemble, drill, glue, fold, cut and bind printed material; or

2. Three years of satisfactory bookbinding experience operating various commercial grade machines as described in "1" above; or

3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
