Controls Engineer

What you will do

This position is for a Controls Engineer for a grid stamping manufacturing process, providing technical leadership, working autonomously, and providing support to manufacturing operations and maintenance functions by troubleshooting and making design improvements to a wide variety of manufacturing equipment

How you will do it

  • Program and troubleshoot PLC controls and HMIs for proper function.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Modify and develop electrical and electronic drawings (AutoCAD) for equipment and facilities following standard drawing and electrical practices.

  • Lead verification of electrical safety in equipment design for equipment launch.

  • Keep equipment drawings current and accurate.

  • Lead downtime resolution and perform root cause failure analysis.

  • Assist and direct outside contractors as required.

  • Keep equipment operational by working with maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures.

  • Assist equipment manufacturer in equipment programming updates as required.

  • Assist maintenance and engineering to ensuring customer expectations and KPIs are exceeded.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management teams.

  • B.S. in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.

  • Experience in a plant manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency in PLC, HMI programming/troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley)

  • Proficiency in drive programming and troubleshooting
