Public Services Coordinator

JOB TITLE: Public Services Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Library

REPORTS TO: Director of Library Services

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Primarily responsible for coordinating and supervising all public services activities in the library.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates public services activities in the library.
  • Provides supervision and guidance for student workers. This includes scheduling and work assignments.
  • Maintains library collections, equipment, and facilities.
  • Uses and manages library software for circulation, equipment, and other applications.
  • Assists faculty, staff, students and library patrons to answer their questions and give them guidance as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
  • Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.
  • Prospective members of the Dordt University community are expected to agree with its sexuality, gender identity, and sexual conduct policy which can be found on the DU website (contact the HR Office if you need additional information).
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective working relationships and excellent customer service.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership skills necessary for supervising and mentoring student employees.
  • Coordination skills for planning projects and maintaining organized records.
  • Basic business mathematics skills.
  • Experience with e-mail and word processing, and proficiency working with spreadsheets.
  • Aptitude to learn and use a variety of library software applications.
  • Willingness to adapt to changes in technology.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work-ethic; ability to work independently.
