Overview

East Penn is curretly seeking a Divisional Safety Manager who works to prevent workplace injury and illness and promotes health and safety awareness and education to fellow employees.  Develops, updates, and/or maintains Safety programs/procedures and practices that establish controls to minimize and/or eliminate employee exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the workplace is in compliance with relevant OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic audits are conducted.
  • Supports management and employee initiatives to promote continuous improvement in Safety performance and accident prevention.
  • Responsible for making sure that Management & employees understand and follow health and safety programs/ policies/procedures (LO/TO, MH, Machine Guard, Confined Space, etc.).
  • Audit program effectiveness and develop strategies for continued improvement.
  • Accident prevention, focus on root cause analysis to reduce risk. Recommend controls, corrective action and implement upon approval. Promote a safer work environment.
  • Take the necessary measures to identify potential workplace hazards and improve existing conditions.
  • Ability to assess potential hazards and act safely and quickly in the event of an incident.
  • High visibility and responsiveness to employee concerns and management support.
  • Knowledgeable of company, state and federal workplace health and safety laws.
  • Safety Committee oversite.
  • Will be responsible for the development and support of other H&S team members.
  • Supports management and employee initiatives to promote continuous improvement in Health Safety performance and accident prevention.
  • Periodic status reports to H&S Director and other relevant parties.
  • Provide additional technical and administrative support to the Environmental Health and Safety group as necessary.

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications

 

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelors’ Degree in Safety/Health Sciences/ equivalent degree or equivalent industrial experience.  Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required with ability to provide specification for other program systems.  Individual must have strong organizational and problem solving skills.  Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, or within a team environment in a managerial role.   

 

Education/Certifications

  • Professional certification preferred but not required.

  • Required: Must be a team player, as well as have ability to work alone as the task requires
  • Strong Communication Skills, written and verbal
  • Self Starter
  • Knowledgeable of company, state and federal workplace health and safety laws. And willingness for ongoing education
  • Computer – Strong Word and Excel knowledge   Email and other Software &  communication needs
