Job Summary: 

Firetrace International has an opportunity for a full-time summer Engineering Intern to join our dynamic Engineering Team. Our Engineering Intern will have their own project to complete – with support from assigned mentor and the wider Firetrace team. The project scope will either be a small individual project or part of a larger project. An example of a previous internship project was to design a method of integrating an electronic signaling device into a mechanical fire suppression component. 

Job Skills:

The right candidate will possess the following skills and qualities to perform duties as assigned successfully:

  1. Investigate various options via research and vendor interaction
  2. Develop questions around what you do not know and the ability to find answers
  3. Ability to create 3D models and 2D drawings (SolidWorks)
  4. Communicate/collaborate using project management tools (Monday.com), Outlook, MS Teams/SharePoint
  5. Ability to perform mechanical design calculations
  6. Creative and curious mindset to find a better way
  7. Willingness to fail and learn from the results
  8. Scope options and present ideas to your mentor and other team members
  9. Willingness to test prototypes and write test reports to document the results
  10. Ability to design, test, iterate and deliver an MVP as the project deliverable
  11. Leverage internal design procedures for contribution to and/or completion of project deliverables
  12. Urgency to complete the project in the summer internship timeframe

  1. Must be currently pursuing a bachelors degree in engineering or completing a combined bachelors/masters program. 
  2. The successful candidate will be either a rising senior or rising junior, with preference given to rising seniors. 
  3. Minimum 3.0 GPA 
  4. Due to client contracts in place, you must have unrestricted work authorization. 
  5. Must be available to work onsite for summer full time internship at Firetrace Headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ. Approximately 10-12 week internship, depending on selected intern's school schedule.

Compensation: $25/hour
