We’re filling this role for a client, a luxury health club based in Kansas City.
Under the direction of the Director of Group Fitness, the Group Fitness Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the Group Fitness program. The Group Fitness Manager position also requires managing (recruit, train and evaluate) a diverse team of highly skilled Group Fitness instructors and Group Fitness Instructor Leads, coordinating the class schedule and ensuring an exceptional member experience through a consistent delivery of high-quality group fitness classes.
Group Fitness Ops
Staffs and organizes the monthly class schedule and oversees the digital Group Fitness class schedule in our app. These updates include individual classes subbed, special events schedules and special holiday schedules.
Works with the Director of Group Fitness to determine hiring needs for the GFI team. Submits new job request form to Human Resources and once hired, coordinates initial new hire onboarding activities with HR.
Onboards and trains all new GFI’s in accordance with established policies and procedures
Establishes and enforces our policies and procedures regarding use of club facilities, studios and equipment, including sound and visual equipment
Maintains an accurate record of all classes/subs and provides payroll report on a bi-weekly basis to the Director of Group Fitness for final review prior to submission to HR
Management & Collaboration
Meets periodically with GFI’s to develop, problem solve, resolve issues and coach up, when needed
Ensures the Director of Member Staff/Member Staff Coordinator are trained in all scripts, policies and procedures related to group fitness operations
Works with the Membership department to assist new members into group fitness classes/programs and resolve any billing inquiries related to no show fees and/or other program fees
Works to support the Marketing department with social media content (e.g., videos and photos of group fitness offerings and events)
Member Relations
Promotes member relations as part of daily routine, including walking the club, talking with class participants prior to and after classes, taking classes, spontaneous interactions, etc.
Ensures that all members and guests receive courteous, prompt and professional attention to all their group fitness needs/questions/concerns
Responds to all member correspondence or complaints whether in-person or by email timely and effectively
Administrative
Develops and maintains a working knowledge of all group fitness offerings – able to communicate and assist in bringing awareness of all marketing/promotional activities & events to the GFI team
Acts as MOD when the Director of Group Fitness is unavailable, on PTO, etc., supports the GFI team and operations, as needed
Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience managing group fitness instructors

Must be willing to work onsite in Westwood, Kansas.
