Your mission

GotPhoto is looking for a Data Platform Lead to join our Platform team in Berlin and take ownership of our data infrastructure.

In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, and evolution of our data platform, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and efficient. You’ll drive best practices in data engineering, enabling high-quality, well-structured data pipelines that support analytics, reporting, and operational needs.

As a hands-on leader, you will develop robust data solutions, optimize workflows, and mentor a small but skilled team, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration. This is an opportunity to shape the future of data at GotPhoto and have a direct impact on how data drives business success.

You are reporting to our Head of Data Kinda.



Responsibilities

  •  Design & Build Scalable Data Infrastructure – Architect and implement a modern, maintainable data platform, ensuring smooth data flow across the organization.

  • Develop & Optimize Data Pipelines – Build and improve ETL/ELT processes using tools like dbt, Airbyte, and Airflow, ensuring efficiency, robustness, and automation.

  • Ensure Data Quality & Governance – Define and enforce data contracts, governance frameworks, and observability practices, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability across all pipelines.

  • Leverage Cloud & DevOps Technologies – Deploy and manage cloud-based data solutions on AWS, orchestrate workloads using Kubernetes, and implement infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and GitLab CI/CD.

  • Lead & Mentor a High-Performing Team – Guide and support a team of 2 data engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and technical excellence.

We are looking for

  • Data Engineering Expert – You have at least 5+ years of experience with SQL, Python, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling.

  • Cloud & Automation Proficiency – You have hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, and modern data pipeline tools.

  • Scalable Architecture Mindset – You have a strong understanding of event-driven data architectures and infrastructure-as-code.

  • Strong Communicator & Collaborator – You are able to engage with stakeholders, explain complex topics clearly, and create alignment across teams.
