The Employee Experience team is looking for an Android Engineer who’s passionate about crafting intuitive, high-impact mobile experiences that empower hourly teams. You’ll focus on enhancing our employee app, bringing both strategy and execution to the table. This is a unique opportunity to help shape how teams at our customers’ businesses connect, communicate, and get work done—making every shift feel more seamless and every teammate feel more in control. You’ll collaborate across teams to deliver real results and raise the bar every step of the way.   • Building and maintaining core features our employees use within Homebase, including employee onboarding, our Cash Out and Pay any Day features, as well as improving the overall experience across the employee app to create a cohesive experience.

  • Collaborating with backend and product teams to develop the mobile features that drive our employees to use Homebase every day.

  • Contributing to the evolution of our current engineering strategy and development process. 

  • Impacting our software architecture by evaluating emerging and existing technologies, ensuring the scale of our technical approaches, and evangelizing these with the mobile feature teams.

  • Maintaining a high bar for quality, performance, and security, ensuring that customer trust is at the heart of everything we build.

🚀 The Foundation for Success - These are the experiences and strengths that will set you up for success in this role:

  • 4+ years of Mobile Software Engineering experience 

  • Expert in Kotlin, Kotlin coroutines, and various common Android frameworks

  • Nice to have: Experience with Java and Jet pack components MVI & compose

  • Advanced understanding of object-oriented software design and design patterns, and how they apply to the frameworks listed above

  • Advanced understanding of performant code

  • Knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices

  • Experience with RESTful APIs and third-party libraries

  • Testing framework experience - unit, feature, and integration

  • Knowledge of Jira, Git, Github, CircleCI, and development using pull requests.

  • Strong systematic and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work from the office weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
