What the role involves:

As a Wyoming Ranch Protection Officer at IO Security, LLC you are responsible for the safety and security of personnel, assets, livestock, facilities and information at the Twin Pines Ranch. You are a critical contributor to our physical security operations team during day to day ranch operations. In the event of a crisis situation that would threaten safe and secure business operations, this role is expected to lead with confidence to protect life and property. This could include, but is not limited to natural disasters, wildlife and livestock poaching, workplace violence, facility emergencies, fire, issues of serious injury or illness and other threats that pose a risk to the overall safety and security of personnel, facilities and business operations. 

Ranch Patrol Officers perform many tasks throughout their shifts which include: patrolling the ranch perimeter, responding to intrusion on ranch property, monitoring electronic access control systems, intrusion detection systems, video surveillance (CCTV) systems, fire alarm systems, and and other systems critical to the facility operation. Monitoring of visitors and contractors with a friendly, helpful demeanor is a critical task. This is a full-time position in a core security function that is primarily performed during daylight, but may require extended hours or response to property based on events. The optimal candidate will have an in-depth law enforcement/military background, hold a valid HR 218 certification, and possess or has the ability to extend close connections to the local community and organizations. Specifically,  the right candidate is family-oriented, personable, and understands the value of working with neighbors and the community. In addition, the ideal candidate has experience in using horses or tactical All-Terrain-Vehicles (ATVs) to perform patrolling functions, to include tracking of humans in wilderness areas. 

Candidates must reside within a 30-45 minute drive from Twin Pines Ranch, Wyoming. 

  • Greets and monitors visitors, contractors, and equipment.
  • Uses closed circuit TV (CCTV) video surveillance systems to confirm status of security systems, personnel, wildlife and livestock in addition to confirming authorization of individuals requesting access to any secure area. 
  • Installing tactical game type cameras to observe movements of wildlife or human traffic. 
  • Supervises the deployment of security personnel and security personnel activities effectively through communication with ranch management and stakeholders.
  • Communicates effectively with staff, guests, and employees via radio, telephone, email, digital/electronic communications and in person.
  • Regularly patrols ranch property looking for trespassers, poachers, predators, and fires.
  • Monitors and operates computer systems effectively.
  • Documents and investigates security events and incidents. When necessary, performs liaison with law enforcement to prosecute violations of law. 
  • Build, improve and maintain effective communication and relationships with co-workers, staff, subcontractors, vendors, local law enforcement and guests.
  • Remain flexible to an ever changing environment, and adapt well to different situations.
  • Report safety concerns, security breaches and unusual activity both verbally and in writing.
  • Handle security issues or emergency situations appropriately, and as appropriate, contacts local emergency responders; police, fire dept., EMT’s.
  • Fully participate in training and certification programs to enhance abilities and career advancement.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with ranch and IO security operations manuals, post orders, policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Have experience utilizing basic computer programs such as MS Office products and email, with occasional production of presentations to illustrate needs and trends for ranch security. 
  • The Ranch Patrol Officer is responsible for effective and efficient processing of all information relevant to the security operation which includes, but is not limited to: service requests, shift activity logs and incident reports, theft investigations, and community relations.
  • Have the ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure or stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma.  Associates Degree preferred. Bachelors Degree or higher sets the superior candidate apart. 
  • This position requires a company sponsored background check.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills are required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a security operations/law enforcement role, and a proven track record in a security patrolling environment. Demonstrated experience in tracking is preferable in determining merit for this position. 
  • Possess appropriate user level computer skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively operate and manage security tools and processes.  Systems include but are not limited to access control, intrusion alarm systems, CCTV, and communications equipment.  Previous experience with Access Control and Intrusion Detection Systems is preferred.
  • Possess strong communication skills in both the written and verbal format and in all delivery formats (i.e. in person, via radio, digital/electronic means and via telephone, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment and the ability to work independently, making sound decisions in both contexts that build teams in a positive manner. 
  • Neat and professional appearance.

  • Ability to provide quality customer service in both a corporate and family type of environment

Required Qualifications

  • Previous military, emergency responder, armed private security, border security or law enforcement background.
  • All current or former members of the military must provide a copy of their DD 214, and or NGB 22-R/discharge paperwork.  Applicants will only be considered if they have an honorable discharge annotated on their discharge documents. 
  • Persons who are hired for the Ranch Patrol Officer position must meet a minimum physical fitness standard, which will include; the ability to run short distances, ability to drag an unconscious adult person from a vehicle or building, perform CPR, and the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. 
  • Experience utilizing 4 wheelers, side by sides, and 4 wheel drive vehicles.
  • Experienced in vehicle recovery in remote locations (self-extraction).
  • Experience with remote location medical needs.
  • Ability to easily navigate utilizing maps, map systems, compass and GPS. 
  • Demonstrated history of positive community relations within an operational area. 
  • No history of substance abuse, to include alcohol, schedule 2 narcotics, or any medications that would impair operation of a vehicle during duty hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Field specific or related education.
  • Armed security license, concealed carry permit and/or HR218 qualification.
  • Previous experience in an executive protection environment, corporate security, or estate security position.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certifications.
  • Recent firearms qualifications.   (IO Security standard is the Diplomatic Security Service qualification test).

Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements .

IOG is a fully distributed organization but due to the nature of this role, you will need to reside within a 30-45 minute drive from Twin Pines Ranch, Wyoming.

The base salary for this position has a range of $80-90k per year at the commencement of employment. Any offer is determined by overall experience and performance during the interview process. This is only part of the total compensation package.
