Why We Need You!

Site Reliability Engineering is the engine that drives delivery and management of Ivanti’s SaaS product offerings. We are responsible for the reliability, deployment, and operation of the Ivanti Cloud product portfolio. We are seeking individuals eager to drive SRE maturity through the research and development of internal tooling, operational enhancements, and deployment pipelines. Ivanti SRE takes a holistic view of operational procedures, incident response procedures, application and infrastructure monitoring, and process automation.

Ivanti SRE is a blend of infrastructure, networking, automation, development, and application administration. This is a hands-on technical position. The ideal candidate will have a software engineering background and strong experience with continuous deployment, SaaS delivery, and production incident response.

 

This role requires that applicants reside in Scotland and be authorized to work in the United Kingdom.

By combining market insights, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration, the Engineering organization ensures every product release meets evolving user needs and competitive demands. This team is instrumental in developing Ivanti's purpose-built platform for CIOs and CISOs powered by Ivanti Neurons - a cloud-scale, hyperautomation layer that enables proactive healing, user-friendly security across the organization and provides an enhanced user experience. This department plays a pivotal role in shaping the company's growth trajectory through continuous innovation and customer-centric solutions.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Researching, developing, maintaining, and automating both existing and new SRE tools and processes
  • Driving solutions to reduce toil within SRE
  • Participating in code review and analysis with SRE peers
  • Composing and reviewing contributions to SRE documentation such as system documentation, technical guides, and runbooks
  • Deploying, managing, and securing Ivanti’s production Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environments in AWS and Azure
  • Working with geographically dispersed, cross-departmental teams to solve difficult problems
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior SREs to foster their professional growth
  • Participate in on-call rotations for 24x7 coverage (follow-the-sun model) for incident response, issue triage, and
     

 

To Be Successful in The Role, You Will Have

  • A BSc in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years relevant industry experience (4+ with an achieved BSc in Computer Science or Equivalent Degree)
  • Demonstrated proficiency building applications and tooling with Python and at least one of the following languages:
    • Java
    • Golang
    • C#
  • Proficiency working with Bash interactively and programmatically
  • Experience with PowerShell
  • Proficiency working with public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure preferred)
  • Experience with core Linux distributions (Debian, RHEL, SUSE, Slackware)
  • Strong container orchestration experience (EKS or AKS preferred)
  • Strong Operating System troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience analyzing and troubleshooting scalable distributed computing systems
  • Experience with deployment pipeline tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, and/or GitHub Actions
  • Proficiency working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, and/or ARM
  • A strong understanding of DevOps practices
  • A desire to adopt and implement emergent technologies and best practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English for the purposes of global collaboration


An exceptional fit will have:

  • Prior experience as a Site Reliability Engineer
  • Certificates in one or more of the following categories or demonstrated certificate-equivalent knowledge:
    • Cloud Development and architecture
    • Kubernetes Administration
    • Linux Administration
    • Software engineering disciplines
  • Experience developing for Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, or other ‘serverless’ frameworks
  • Experience with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 Type 2, ISO-27001, FedRAMP, IRAP, ISMAP, etc.
  • Experience with user privacy regulations such as GDPR and PIPEDA

 

Roadmap for Success

90 Days:

  • Onboarding and role-training is complete
  • You've become familiar with the SRE-run product portfolio
  • You hold a general understanding of how and where Ivanti SRE implements automation
  • You've gotten to know the team and are building relationships with SRE peer teams

6 Months:

  • Self-sufficiency in core job functions
  • Participating in Incident Response rotations
  • Active collaboration with the greater SRE team (Observability, Database specialists) on automation improvements
  • You've identified gaps in automation and have begun to plan and implement new tooling for SRE Operations

1 Year:

  • Become a trusted resource for review and development of SRE-owned code and tooling
  • Assume ownership of key SRE processes and tooling including training and documentation
  • Contribute to and lead team education in the form of training and junior SRE mentorship
  • Establish best practices for code composition and elimination of toil
