SVP, Head of Securities Lending

Position Summary:  SVP, Head of Securities Lending

LPL Financial is seeking a dynamic and experienced industry leader to strategically develop and lead our securities lending program for Margin and Fully Paid Lending. This individual will be responsible for the overall strategy, execution, risk management, and growth of LPL's securities lending activities. The Head of Securities Lending will collaborate closely with various internal stakeholders, including Trading, Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Technology, and Relationship Management teams, as well as external counterparties and vendors. This is a critical leadership role that will directly contribute to LPL's revenue generation and efficient balance sheet management.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Development

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic vision and roadmap for LPL's securities lending program, aligned with the firm's overall business objectives and risk appetite.
  • Identify and evaluate new opportunities and strategies to optimize revenue generation, enhance efficiency, and expand the scope of the securities lending business.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success and effectiveness of the program.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and best practices in securities lending.

Program Management and Execution

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the securities lending program, ensuring efficient and effective execution of lending and borrowing activities.
  • Establish technology solution to faciliate securities lending activities, to include contract negotiation
  • Manage relationships with lending counterparties, custodians, and other service providers.
  • Negotiate and review lending agreements and related documentation.
  • Optimize collateral management processes to ensure adequate coverage and minimize risk.

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Establish and maintain a strong risk management framework for the securities lending program, including the identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of relevant risks (e.g., counterparty risk, market risk, operational risk, legal risk).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management and Compliance teams to develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Serve as primary liaison with regulators

Stakeholder Management and Collaboration

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across various departments.
  • Effectively communicate the strategy, performance, and risks of the securities lending program to senior management and relevant committees.
  • Partner with Relationship Management teams to educate advisors and clients on the benefits and risks of securities lending.
  • Collaborate with Technology teams to identify and implement technology solutions to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing securities lending team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration preferred.
  • FINRA License Series 7 & Series 24
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in securities lending, with a significant portion in a leadership role.
  • Deep understanding of securities lending markets, products, strategies, and regulatory landscape.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing a successful securities lending program, including Fully Paid Lending.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management principles and practices related to securities lending.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Experience with relevant securities lending technology platforms and systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


 

Pay Range:

$180,788-$301,313/year


 

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
