This position is designated for recent graduates with master’s degrees in public health, public administration, social work, psychology, user experience, communications, or a related field. Successful candidates must have obtained their master's degree in one of the related areas by August 2025.

Communications Fellow: The Communications Fellow will take the lead in transforming and optimizing how our organization connects, collaborates, and shares vital internal information. The fellow will assess current efforts, make suggestions for improvement, and implement and evaluate changes. This is a unique opportunity to shape internal communications, develop engaging content, and drive meaningful improvements in a dynamic public health environment.
This role will also help chronicle and convey how MCDPH communications align with best practices in public health by supporting efforts for reaccreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board. To provide a well-rounded experience, the fellow will rotate through various areas within the Office of Marketing and Communications and other divisions to support internal and external projects.
A strong candidate will have experience with user experience, behavior change, digital content development, and/or using analytics to inform communication decisions. These skills may come from degree programs in communications, marketing, public relations, or other related degrees.
WIC Fellow: The WIC program provides nutrition and breastfeeding education, nutrient-dense foods, and essential support to families with limited resources. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the WIC management team to identify community resources, provide training to WIC staff, and assist in connecting families with necessary support. The role serves as a bridge between WIC services and additional assistance, ensuring families receive comprehensive care. This position provides hands-on experience in public health, social services, and community resource coordination while making a meaningful impact. A master’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
Evaluation Fellow: The Evaluation team, housed within the Office of Organizational Excellence (OOE), designs and implements evaluations that drive decision-making and enhance MCDPH public health programs. The Evaluation Fellow will gain insight into MCDPH evaluation methods, shadow experienced evaluators, and support various evaluation initiatives across the department. Responsibilities include contributing to model development, creating data collection tools, conducting data analysis, preparing evaluation reports, and applying the CDC Framework for Program Evaluation. A master’s degree in public health, evaluation, health information, or public administration is preferred.
Working Conditions
Employees in these positions may be required to exert up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or negligible amounts constantly. May require walking and/or standing to a significant degree. Work is performed in an office or administrative environment and is not typically substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
