We now specialize in sprinkler system testing, repair and installation, kitchen and restaurant systems, fire alarm design, installation and service, backflow prevention devices, full service alarm monitoring, fire pump repair and installation, and underground hydrant repairs and installation, among the many services we offer.

The Fire Sprinkler Designer’s primary responsibility is to design fire protection sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 13 using drawing and drafting skills and tools. The drawings produced will be used as a guide by every other link in the chain of construction, both on-site and in the office. The Fire Sprinkler Designer will have responsibility for the initial planning of a project, including scheduling of time, creating material stock listing, analyzing changes, and solving problems with Fire Sprinkler Design Manager. To excel in this position, the desired candidate has knowledge in NFPA 13, is detail-oriented, works well with little supervision, has excellent communication skills, and can effectively navigate stressful situations.


Responsibilities 

Review construction contract documents and coordinate with sub-contractors and General Contractors/ owner to gather required information to design the project’s sprinkler system 

Survey systems for new tenant improvement projects 

Survey systems for new design and reverse engineering projects

Survey systems for property owner system capability inquiry

Create detailed and accurate drawings through extensive use of AutoCAD and AutoSprink. 

Submit necessary engineering documents to the AHJ for approval

Meet with potential customers for system design and install

Provide system stock list for installation

Provide general support to install crews

Actively participate in personal and professional development 

Perform other related duties as assigned or required  



Requirements

Valid driver’s license

High school diploma/ GED

2+ years prior work experience in commercial, industrial, and residential design

Proficient knowledge in current codes, such as NFPA 13

Proficient knowledge in the use of AutoSprink.

Able to work Monday - Friday, between the hours of 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM  

Extensive experience with Autosprink design software

Experience with BIM modeling and coordination

Experience with fire pumps and standpipe systems.

Experience with storage system design i.e. ESFR, CMSA and others.

Experience with creating fabrication reports and stock listing.

Potential for remote work, depending on experience etc. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adjust to shifting priorities

Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handle stressful situations

High precision/ detail-oriented

Responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized

Proficient knowledge of fire sprinkler systems and useful tools

Does not take short-cuts: work effectively and efficiently while performing all aspects of the required job

Experience working in Profit Zoom and Paylocity
