Electrical Engineering Intern - Distribution

Milhouse is looking for a Summer Intern for our Power Engineering Team out of our Atlanta, GA office!  The ideal candidate should be an active student pursuing their degree in Electrical Engineering and able to work in the Atlanta office practicing within our safety guidelines. Interested candidates should have exposure, experience or plan to take courses in AutoCAD, and would be in their junior or senior year.


What you will do:
  • Execute designs for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems (4-69kV) by preparing field notes, drawings, specifications, and calculations for review and approval by a Senior Engineer as well as safely perform field walk downs to document existing conditions and generate material and labor specifications.  
  • Apply client’s standards, guidelines, specifications, practices and procedures or appropriate industry standards in preparing design drawings as well as coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with all specifications, codes, and client requirements.  
  • Review and perform quality assurance for design deliverables (internal and external design). 
  • Audit of design packages and construction jobs to ensure adherence of Project Engineering standards. 
  • Ensure the integration of safety, reliability, operability, constructability, and configuration management practices into final products/designs/processes. 
  • Regularly communicate and coordinate project activities with internal team members and begin to build relationships with clients - with some help and guidance from your supervisor.  


Your background:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Junior or Senior standing at an ABET accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of GIS, Microsoft Office, Google Earth, AutoCAD, TED, Pole Loading Analysis software is a plus.


$20 - $25 a year
The actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
