M. A. Mortenson Company seeks a full-time Commissioning Manager based in Minneapolis, MN. The Commissioning Manager drives and leads activities related to project construction and contract administration with a focus on successful commissioning.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field and three (3) years related experience working on the commissioning phase of the electrical components of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects.
Must also have 24 months of experience with each of the following: (1) reviewing manufacturer’s data to determine extent of scope for electrical portion of project, including wiring requirements and electrical characteristics (including grounding requirements, power factor ranges, lightning protection requirements, and generator outputs); (2) verifying construction is in agreement with electrical engineering design drawings, including preparatory meetings and QA/QC; (3) providing support in collaboration with the scope team and project manager to verify the scope intent and scope criteria to be used for commissioning; (4) drafting issue descriptions, meeting minutes, field reports, and final reports; (5) troubleshooting on-site and in real time communication and controls issues critical to the successful commissioning of utility scale Battery Energy Storage Systems; and (6) operating utility scale Battery Energy Storage Systems during grid-level ISO (Independent System Operator), TO (Transmission Operator), and PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) acceptance tests. All experience may have been gained concurrently. May work in various unanticipated locations in the United States. Salary: $122,600 to $183,900/year.

The base pay range for this role is $122,600- $183,900. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
