Consumer Lending Relationship Manager II

Overview:

Solicits new business, and administers and services existing business.  Participates in a formal call program to service customers seeking direct, indirect, or educational financing. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Seeks to understand the customer’s businesses and requirements, evaluating credit information and making relationship recommendations.  Works closely with Sales Managers and Credit Managers to gather information and receive recommendations on potential customers. 
  • The incumbent strives towards creating and maintaining / strengthening efficient relationships. 
  • Follows market trends and developments to increase the Bank’s business in established and developing markets. 
  • Delivers update bank program information to customers.  Collects and delivers competitive program information and market intelligence. 
  • The incumbent has contact with internal credit, funding, customer services, and product personnel in handling customer concerns.  Also has contact with branch personnel and other bank relationship managers. 
  • Monitor portfolio and customer/vendor statistics with regard to efficiencies and volumes. 
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Results/Actions impact the activities or operations of my division and may have limited impact on the bank as a whole.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. 

Three years relationship sales experience or credit experience, OR three years Financial Aid experience or Educational Lending experience. 

 Excellent relationship management, sales, and business development skills required.  Good finance and accounting skills. 

General knowledge of bank/PC software programs utilized by the department.

Education and Experience Preferred:

Customer Service Focus.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Good interpersonal relationship skills.  The ability to interact professionally with customers. 

The incumbent interacts extensively with both internal and external contacts:  internal credit, funding, dealer services, product, dealerships, and external vendors.
