Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Aeronautical Engineering Manager 3 as to join our diverse team of professionals. This leadership position is located onsite in either Rancho Bernardo, CA, El Segundo or Palmdale, CA.
This Aeronautical Manager and Cost Account Manager (CAM) will manage a large diverse multi-disciplinary team consisting of approximately 100 engineers and help coordinate between other teams internal and external, internal leadership, and the customer to ensure proactive management, execution, risk reduction, and opportunity capture in support operations as directed by the customer and internal leadership. He/she will also coordinate and lead preparation of presentation materials to support customer status review, Program Integration Reviews, and proposal efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drive the development of technical solutions, lead the effort with Responsible Engineers (REs) to prepare the change request packages and lead the effort from approval to completion.
- Ensure all change requests meet technical requirements to progress through the change management lifecycle to include presentations at Enterprise Technical Change Boards.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team to:
- Manage execution of projects and technical tasks to completion and provide regular status updates to leadership.
- Assess, track, and mitigate technical, cost and schedule risk.
- Representing the Vehicle Engineering organization in Integrated Master Schedule working group meetings and meeting or beating Vehicle Engineering milestones
- Attending Operating Unit meetings and present all technical and programmatic Vehicle Engineering systems pertinent information.
- Identifying and managing Vehicle Engineering risks, issues, and opportunities, including representing Vehicle Engineering in Risk Board meetings
- Communicate prioritization from program leadership to technical execution teams
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. An occasional travel requirement up to 10% may be needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience
Familiarization with the Technical Change Management Process
Experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams.
Hands on experience in electronics engineering, systems engineering and/or aerospace engineering
Experience and knowledge of Project/Program Management processes to include Control Account Management (CAM) Earned Value Management (EVM) , Risks – Issues - Opportunities (RIO) processes, project planning and scheduling, staffing, coordination and oversight of technical work effort
Microsoft Office skills (Power Point, Word, Excel)
Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.
Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)

Current Special Program Access
Experience as a cost account manager or similar
Experience working technical manuals, system maintenance or creating engineering dispositions
15 years in an engineering role with increasing technical and programmatic responsibilities
Cross-discipline engineering experience
Cross-lifecycle engineering experience
Experience with software and hardware engineering
Previous experience coordinating aspects of program execution including planning, baselining, and implementation across multiple teams.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
