Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add an Electronics Engineer (Networks) or a Principal Electronics Engineer (Networks) to our team in Rancho Bernardo, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.

The selected candidate will assist with data center design, deployment, and documentation and will need domain knowledge of the existing areas.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop engineering and automated deployments for enterprise system configurations.
  • Execute engineering projects on schedule.
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and redline documented procedures.
  • Implement engineering changes to the system as required
  • Integrate and test software and/or hardware systems in complex IT systems.
  • Work closely with Engineers and Technicians in a lab environment.
  • Author and maintain technical installation, configuration, and update documentation

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.

This position will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility.  There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

This position can be filled at either the Electronics Engineer (Networks) or Principal Electronics Engineer (Networks) level, depending upon the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications Electronics Engineer (Networks):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience in scripting/programming languages such as Python or Matlab
  • Experience deploying, configuring, and security hardening Cisco Network Devices
  • Working knowledge of routing & switching concepts and protocols
  • Familiarity with network simulation tools and load testing (e.g. CML, GNS3)
  • Active in-scope, DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/SAR)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience in scripting/programming languages such as Python or Matlab
  • Experience deploying, configuring, and security hardening Cisco Network Devices
  • Working knowledge of routing & switching concepts and protocols
  • Familiarity with network simulation tools and load testing (e.g. CML, GNS3)
  • Active in-scope, DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance once in position.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/SAR)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active in-scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent certification
  • Familiar with Spine and Leaf architecture
  • Familiar with government grade encryption gear such as TACLANES or HAIPES
  • Familiar with Agile methodology
  • Familiar with version control, GIT experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of networking strategies including software defined networking over wide area networks
  • Familiar with current network products and technologies such as routers, firewalls, and switches, CML a plus
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00Salary Range 2: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
