Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently hiring for a Supply Chain Planning Specialist (Level 1/2) to join our IBCS Program Hardware Engineering team. This position is in Huntsville, AL The person hired will be expected to work the hours of operations in Huntsville, AL; training and meetings will require onsite participation from the candidate. This position does have the possibility to have hybrid schedule with part-time telecommuting based on program requirements.

Job Duties: 

  • Help define and develop material strategy. 

  • Partner with Huntsville Hardware Engineering teammates to select hardware for future designs. To include processing RFQ, RFI, & RFP on behalf of the design team needs.

  • Receive and review requirements for standard and non-standard parts. Analyzes lead times and identifies critical path procurements and updates Material Master data for price valuation and planned delivery times.

  • Participate in Agile environment teams to drive Change Request (CR) updates to TDP.

  • Participate in make/buy process, capacity planning, and resource planning; product phase-in/phase-out, manufacturing ramp-up, product end-of-life management.

  • Analyze purchase material supply/demand position using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) tools.

  • Understand inventory levels based on dependent and independent Bill-of-Materials (BOM) requirements.

  • Act as one the Program facing liaisons for the Global Supply chain team.

  • Competitive and non-competitive sourcing approaches, requests for quotes

  • Solicitation bid packages strategies, targeting optimized pricing through volume

  • Source selections in a competitive environment & participate in proposal activities.

  • Understand and evaluate multiple supplier proposals to place compliant purchase orders.

  • Extract, monitor, analyze and validate data and information from multiple sources

  • Develop engaging and collaborative relationships with suppliers and internal partners / customers to drive problem resolution. 

  • Help CAMs and Management understand and explain material forecasts.

  • Candidates must be able to make sound and independent decisions in a timely manner, display strong interpersonal skills, and have an agile perspective of compliance protocol mandated by regulated industry, including Aerospace and Defense.

This role may be filled at a level 1 or level 2 based on the requirements listed below.

Basic Qualifications:

Supply Chain Planning Specialist (level 1)

  • Must have a High school diploma or GED with at least 4 years of related experience; will consider 0 years of experience with a bachelor's degree

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system

  • MS Office including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Supply Chain Planning Specialist (level 2)

  • Must have a High school diploma or GED with at least 6 years of related experience; OR 2 plus years of experience with a bachelor's degree; OR 1 year of relevant experience with a Master's

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system

  • MS Office including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Supply chain experience for an aerospace and/or defense company

  • Ability to discern and analyze data to formulate and execute effective negotiation strategies

  • Demonstrated experience in the analysis and negotiation of contractual terms and conditions

  • Problem solving, and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to apply risk-based thinking in support of strategic decision making

  • SAP experience

  • Knowledge of FAR/DFAR

Salary Range: $58,400.00 - $87,600.00Salary Range 2: $70,600.00 - $105,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
