About the role:

Internal Title: Research Scientist II

As a Toxicology Research Scientist you will conduct in-vivo toxicology experiments using a broad range of scientific and technical skills to deliver high-quality data that contribute to advancement of discovery, technology and early development projects.


 

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support or lead in-vivo toxicology studies using technical and organizational skills to ensure the successful completion of the studies.
  • Actively contribute to discussions at laboratory meetings, to develop study protocols in collaboration with the Study Director, and to schedule and implement all activities involved in the study.
  • Conduct and document all toxicology study procedures and data consistent with the “spirit” of GLP, such that these non-GLP studies are suitable for regulatory submissions.
  • Proficiently perform all in-vivo technical tasks/procedures required for a toxicology study in rodents including but not limited to administration of test articles (PO, IV, SQ, IP, IM, etc.), clinical monitoring and care of animals, collection of quality samples (blood via multiple routes, urine, etc.), meticulous and timely documentation and reporting of findings, data review and retrieval of data
  • Review, understand and comply with all company, IACUC, regulatory, laboratory, etc. policies, protocols, standard operating procedures, working instructions.
  • Contribute to the upkeep and functioning of the laboratory (facility and equipment) and to fostering a constructive, productive and dynamic team working environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in the biological sciences with relevant in-vivo experience
  • 2 – 3 years experience conducting in-vivo (rodent) toxicology studies as hands-on technician at a major CRO or within life sciences environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent laboratory citizenship – able and willing to work independently as well as collaboratively within and across teams, and to be mentored on Novartis SOPs and methods
  • Must be able to work on site 5 days per week, and up to 4 weekend days per month.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Laboratory Animal Technician Certification strongly desired
  • Experience using in-life electronic data acquisition system or demonstrated ability to learn

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between: $73,500 and $136,500/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/25 through 12/31/25, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period.  Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
