MEDICAL ASSISTANT POSITION OVERVIEW:

Working side by side with orthopedic surgeons in an engaging environment.  You'll learn more about healthcare, processes, and build your skillsets working with other team members as we build and maintain a safe, fun work environment. This role is responsible for assisting physicians with basic patient care and providing unparalleled customer service to patients while adhering to established protocols, processes and volume without ever compromising quality. 

This is a float role, so the ideal candidate would be able to cover any physician clinic where needed. They would, also, be covering the Ortho tech position as needed. 


ORTHO TECH POSITION OVERVIEW:

Again, working with Orthopedic Surgeons, but working independently, doing casting, splinting, suture removal, DME fittings, wound care as needed for the clinic. We will help you to build your skills in all of these areas, while maintaining a professional environment in the workplace. 

This position will float between assigned MA or Ortho days-depending on the needs of the clinic. As an Ortho tech, the ideal candidate will work independently, for all physicians in the clinic on any given day.


MEDICAL ASSISTANT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares patient for examination and procedures 
  • Ensure all initial consultations, pertinent notes, lab slips, radiology and pathology reports are entered in the patient’s file and available to the physician prior to patient arrival 
  • Obtain and document patient history and chief complaint, and prepare them for the office visit by taking and documenting the patient’s vitals 
  • Prepare all medication prescriptions, physical therapy orders, diagnostic testing orders and others in accordance with the physician’s direction 
  • Provide patient education with regards to office policies, medications, management of pain/injury/disease, home treatments and special diets using appropriate medical terminology as directed by the physician 
  • Ensure all consent forms are completed, signed and filed 
  • Respond to patient / physician / pharmacy calls calls/messages and assist with their needs 
  • Coordinate patient care with team members 
  • Communicate physician referral requests to referral staff for processing 
  • Assist in obtaining any necessary insurance authorizations for the patient’s treatment 
  • Assist physician with office visit coding 
  • Complete, send and answer questions regarding surgery paperwork 
  • Some travel between our Tech Center and Aurora offices
  • Other duties as assigned 

ORTHO TECH ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Applying casts and/or splints as ordered by physician
  • Removing casts as ordered by physician
  • Suture/staple removal from post operative patients
  • Wound care as ordered by physician
  • Durable Medical Equipment fitting, adjusting, and subsequent paperwork for billing purposes

$25/hour

Requirements

MEDICAL ASSISTANT AND ORTHO TECH REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Strong focus on patient quality and customer service; kindness and understanding of being a patient and the journey involved
  • Excellent follow through to see tasks to completion 
  • Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills 
  • Possesses a high degree of self-motivation and produces high quality work with minimal supervision 


MEDICAL ASSISTANT AND ORTHO TECH DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Experience with electronic medical records is preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of Allscripts EMR is a plus


MEDICAL ASSISTANT AND ORTHO TECH WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Typical clinical office and exam/procedure room environment.  
  • Frequent standing, typing, and reading and entering patient information
  • Ability to file and track documents and data, both in written and electronic form 
  • Able to frequently stoop, lift carry and push/pull 15 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds 
  • Hours of business are Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   
  • On occasion, some early, late and overtime hours may be required.
