Overview

Otter Products is hiring for a Customs Compliance Intern to join our team in Fort Collins, CO.

 

As a Customs Compliance Intern, you will play an important role in helping our team comply with customs regulations for our international shipments including imports into the US and our regions. You will work closely with the Logistics team and gain practical skills through meaningful tasks and real-world applications for import and export.

Responsibilities

  • Audit import documents and provide clearance instructions and missing shipping documents to customs brokers as needed.
  • Track shipments and monitor customs release for urgent sample shipments.
  • Assign HTS classification for new products and upload them into our systems.
  • Monitor outbound shipments through our Denied Party Software
  • Work with accounting to calculate monthly Canadian duty and tax payments.
  • Estimate duty expenses for shipments as needed.
  • Monitor free trade agreements to ensure compliance and update internal logs.
  • Support and maintain a positive safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures and actively contributing to a safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited university or college program at the undergraduate (preferably at the Junior level or higher) or graduate level or be a recent college graduate (within 1 year) required
  • Business, Political Science, International Relations, Economics or Supply Chain Majors preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including MS Excel is required.
  • Some previous experience with Customs Compliance preferred.
  • Available to work up to 40 hr/week during the Summer Internship typical term of May 19th, - August 8th preferred
  • Located or will be located near our Fort Collins, CO office. Unfortunately relocation is not offered - housing and transportation are the intern's responsibility
  • Interns will be paid $21.00/hr. All interns are eligible for modified benefits, Paid Time Off, Volunteer-Time Off, and profit sharing.
