JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Agricultural Analytical Services Laboratory (AASL) supports the education, research, and extension missions of the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences by providing analytical testing and research-based recommendations to inform sustainable resource management decisions. The laboratory provides testing programs for agricultural, horticultural, and environmental materials, including soil, manure, biosolids, compost, plant tissue, and water. The laboratory is accredited for drinking water and environmental testing by the PA Department of Environmental Protection.
The Environmental Testing Program Lead provides oversight of the organic waste residual (e.g., manure, compost and biosolids) analytical testing programs, which includes scheduling tests, performing advanced analytical methods, quality control, report generation, customer support, and documentation required to maintain laboratory certifications. The position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of analytical equipment used in the Environmental Testing Program. The position also serves as a secondary analyst for other laboratory programs, as needed.
Required Experience and Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science, soil science, chemistry or a related field and 3+ years of relevant experience, an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted. Candidates should be proficient in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook and have experience using LIMS and/or relational database management systems (e.g., Filemaker, MS Access).
Additional Preferred Education, Experience:
Preference will be given to candidates who possess a Master of Science degree in environmental science or a related field and experience testing agricultural or environmental samples in a service laboratory.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
