Job Description

We are seeking a proactive, passionate, and detail-oriented intern to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on leveraging Python-based tools for post-audio data processing, optimizing workflows, and supporting data collection and analysis efforts. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about learning, problem-solving, and collaborating on impactful real-world projects that integrate data processing, visualization, and scripting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and enhance the existing codebase on Python for post-audio data processing, including integration of information from diverse file formats (e.g., sound recordings (wav), Excel, and text files).
  • Develop tools for data visualization to streamline data selection and splitting.
  • Document workflows, assumptions, and updates to ensure clarity, reproducibility, and maintainability.
  • Perform data collection activities and contribute to experimental setups.
  • Ensure all data is collected/organized/store properly.
  • Identify opportunities for system optimization and propose or implement improvements.

Qualifications

  • Education: 2nd or 3rd-year undergraduate students (CS, Mechanical Engineering, EE).
  • Proficiency in Python and MATLAB, with experience in quality scripting and function writing, handling and combining large-scale datasets from multiple sources. Able to generate well-organized and efficient code.
  • Basic understanding of time-series signal processing (e.g., sampling, FFT, spectrogram).
  • Basic or willing to learn knowledge of audio recordings and related processing techniques.
  • Experience with code documentation and effective presentation skills. Familiarity with workflow automation and effective data visualization techniques.
  • Valid driving license for data collection.
  • Familiarity with data collection and data acquisition systems.
  • The candidate must be located in Columbia, MD.
