The Starting Pay ~ $90,000annually, with the final salary determined by geographic market rate for the selected candidate. We are proud to offer this competitive salary.

This role will work from home (WFH), and can be located in any state within the United States where Rise Against Hunger currently operates.

Rise Against Hunger is on the verge of beginning a new chapter, an exciting phase in our growth, as we work toward the U.N. Sustainable Development Goal of ending hunger by 2030. Our approach is rooted in our 25-year history as an organization that, among other programs, galvanizes volunteers to produce millions of nutritious meals annually for in-country partners around the world. We’ve also developed an ambitious goal for our growth, to implement our pathways to end hunger framework that includes working toward producing 1 billion meals, funding an increasing number of projects that increase local food production and access to food and addressing hunger and poverty from its root causes for a sustainable end to hunger in our lifetime.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Director of Philanthropy will lead and manage a team of fundraisers to execute comprehensive strategies aimed at acquiring new partnerships and managing key accounts to meet organizational revenue goals. This role is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of fundraising plans, ensuring successful donor acquisition, and fostering long-term relationships with existing donors. The Director will collaborate closely with senior leadership to align strategies with organizational priorities and financial objectives. Key responsibilities include setting fundraising targets, guiding the team in donor cultivation, stewardship, and retention, as well as analyzing performance metrics to refine strategies for continued growth.

80% People Leadership & Development - Responsible for managing and coaching Philanthropy Team to improve capability, capacity and in support of their professional growth and development.

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of fundraisers focused on contributed revenue from partner acquisition, cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Act as internal advocate for the needs of the Philanthropy Team through development and cultivation of strong internal partnerships.
  • Monitor the team's progress against revenue goals, analyze key performance metrics, and provide regular reports and feedback to senior leadership. Implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide mentorship and support to the fundraising team, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Model effective prospect strategy and engagement, coaching and preparing the team to actively recruit new partners.
  • Analyze fundraising data and trends to adjust strategies and maximize donor engagement.
  • Oversee the preparation of donor communications, proposals, and reports to ensure timely and effective stewardship.
  • Lead by example, becoming a power-user for organizational fundraising systems.

20% Development Strategy & Execution- formulation and implementation of development strategy in support of organizational goals.

  • With direction from the CDEO, develop and lead the strategy for  growing a contributed revenue fundraising program including corporate, cause marketing, foundations and Major Donor support.
  • Guide contributed revenue fundraising strategies and activities aimed at acquiring new donors, including identifying prospects, leading outreach efforts, and developing tailored engagement strategies.
  • Provide strategic thinking and direction to strengthen fundraising processes, reporting, collaboration of efforts and related systems
  • Guide strategic growth of contributed revenue to the organization through leading execution of tactical solutions while providing feedback and future strategy feedback to the CDEO.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly manages a team of 3-6 development staff members remotely dispersed
  • Work alongside Donor Engagement Leadership and Team Members to ensure transparent collaboration and strategy of all fundraising staff

TRAVEL

This position requires extensive national and international travel of up to 30-40%

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 7+ years experience developing fundraising strategies and proven history of meeting or exceeding financial goals
  • 3+ years experience leading and developing a team towards achieving financial goals
  • Understands the breadth of individual donor engagement work and knows how to effectively leverage C-suite staff to enhance donor partnerships
  • Proven experience cultivating and securing major donors across high net worth individuals, corporations and foundations
  • A history of building and/or growing sustainable, comprehensive development programs.
  • The ability to develop, coach, and mentor a team of development professionals
  • The ability to develop strategy and to implement that strategy toward tangible, ongoing, and sustainable revenue goals
