Responsibilities

The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician reports to the Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician Supervisor and plays a key role in the ambulatory pharmacy space, including referral based HOPD pharmacist managed clinics, specialty pharmacy, and population health pharmacy services.  The technician will be responsible for assisting with prior authorizations, scheduling patients for appointments, resolving billing rejections, helping patients navigate insurance coverage, and facilitating financial assistance through eligibility screenings and supporting documentation.  They will maintain accurate records of patient interactions within the EMR system.

 

  • Assists specialty pharmacists in the management of specialty medications in the retail setting and works under pharmacist supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve billing rejections and help patients understand insurance coverage.
  • Provide ongoing support to enrolled patients by performing adherence checks and refill reminders.  
  • Ensures timely filling of prescription orders.
  • Strong background in retail pharmacy

 

Schedule:  Full Time Monday through Friday Days

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

Required qualifications:

 

1.    High school diploma or equivalent

2.    Current State of IL pharmacy technician license in good standing

3.    Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential.

4.    Minimum of 3+ years of pharmacy technician experience

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

1.    Previous work in ambulatory pharmacy setting preferred.

2.    Extensive EPIC knowledge/experience preferred.

3.    Familiarity with pharmacy financial assistance programs, insurance processing, and insurance systems (Medicare/Medicaid) preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $18.18 to $26.34. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
