Position Summary

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 3:30 PM with rotating on call off hour and weekend standby. Overtime as needs dictate.

Basic Function:  
Performs construction and maintenance on Elizabethtown Gas Company distribution systems.

Essential Functions: 

  • Performs construction and maintenance on Elizabethtown Gas Company distribution systems 
  • Installation of mains and services. 
  • Repairs gas leaks 
  • Pipe coating 
  • Locating and mark-outs 
  • Main and service deactivation and activation 
  • Valve lubrication and maintenance 
  • Plastic fusion 
  • First response to potential leaks and other gas-related emergencies 
  • Responsible for completing all associated paperwork for the above described 
  • Operate a Kubota and Backhoe 

Qualifications

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: 

  • Work in all types of weather conditions 
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs. 
  • Routinely operate jackhammers & rotary drills 
  • Using a shovel to hand excavate 
  • Required to wear a full-face respirator 
  • Hours/day of standing or operating in confined spaces (trench) 
  • May have to work for up to 16 hours straight during emergency conditions 
  • Required to drive company vehicles for short lengths of time throughout the day 
  • Required to work Stand-By (24-hour on-call) 
  • Requires bending, kneeling, and operating tools in confined space conditions

 

This is a DOT-covered position and will be subject to random drug screening.  

Work location(s) may vary based on language as defined in the CBA. 

Required Experience: 

  • Experience in construction work 
  • Familiar with the use of air tools and construction equipment 
  • Valid NJ Driver's License 

Preferred Skills/Background: 

  • CDL 

Required Background: 

  • High School diploma;  
  • Or equivalent academic education and experience may be considered.

    Compensation Range:

    Start Rate - 31.75 USD
