Job Description

As a Cloud Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and building seamless Hybrid Cloud network solutions that meet the needs of our internal and external customers. 

You will work closely with our Digital Infrastructure team, Cloud Operations, Cloud engineering, On-Prem infrastructure, Architecture and Networking teams to ensure that all networking and connectivity components are designed and implemented in accordance with best practices, standards, and guidelines. 

Your role will be very hands-on and will require extensive experience in configuring and managing networking infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment. You will use infrastructure as code for tooling, which is essential for us, to manage the network infrastructure to support the workloads of 70+ product delivery teams.  

You will be responsible for providing technical guidance and expertise in the design and implementation of end-to-end networking solutions. You will also be responsible for ensuring that all network and connectivity components are secure, scalable, and maintainable. In addition, you will work closely with the Cyber team to ensure that all network components meet our security requirements. 

Your role will be critical in the ongoing operation of our Hybrid Cloud network, and you will play a key role in ensuring that our network infrastructure is reliable, performant, and highly available.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Understand the existing network infrastructure and hybrid cloud environment and continuously improve it to meet the growing needs of the business. 
  • Design, implement and maintain network and security solutions that enable seamless hybrid cloud connectivity and meet business requirements.
  • Implement changes and be able to migrate to cloud native from on prem tools such as F5, Akamai, InTune, DNS Controllers, Firewalls, Active Directory
  • Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Operations, On-prem infrastructure, and other networking teams to ensure consistent implementation of network architecture across different environments. 
  • Lead, implement, maintain and upgrade network fundamentals like Express Routes, Circuits, NSG, UDR, VNets, Subnets, CDN, Route Tables and premium Firewalls.
  • Use IAC such as Terraform and/or Biceps to maintain network components in Azure Cloud Application Gateway, Azure Frontdoor, 
  • Hands on experience Azure vWAN, Priavte DNS Zones, Private DNS Resolver
  • Deep understanding of DR and HA Patterns for reliability
  • Understand Kubernetes, Container Registries, Container Instances and Container Apps
  • Proficient in managing Azure AD, RBAC and Azure Policies
  • Ensure all network solutions are designed, implemented and documented in accordance with industry best practices and standards. 
  • Develop and maintain detailed network documentation, including UML diagrams, network topology maps, and operational procedures. 
  • Work with product teams to understand their network and connectivity requirements for new workloads and applications and provide recommendations for network designs and solutions. 
  • Collaborate with the architecture team to develop and implement network design patterns and standards. 
  • Evaluate new networking technologies and solutions and make recommendations to improve network performance, security, and scalability. 
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to network infrastructure and security. 
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant security policies, standards, and procedures

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining Hybrid Cloud network infrastructure, including on-premises and public cloud environments. 
  • Proven experience in maintaining express route and circuit wit Azure Cloud
  • Experience in Azure PAS solutions e.g. Data Factory, SQL Server, Storage, Key Vaults etc
  • Experience in managing Managed Virtual Network and Private End Points
  • Experience in Azure Dev Ops pipeline and CI/CD 
  • Preferred Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM templates 
  • Experience in designing and managing Web Application Firewall (WAF) solutions. 
  • Experience with Azure Firewall and F5 as network tools. 
  • Proficiency in designing and managing virtual networks (VNets) and subnets in Azure, including private endpoints. 
  • Knowledge of network peering and routing, load balancing, and traffic management. 
  • Experience with network security protocols and solutions
  • Excellent understanding of network documentation principles and best practices, including UML diagrams and network topology documentation. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex network issues.
  • Good understanding of cloud-native architecture and cloud migration patterns.  
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and should be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. 
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or similar.
  • Familiar with Hub - SPOKE topology and Express Route methodology
