Analytics Engineer I

The Democratic National Committee’s Tech Team is hiring an Analytics Engineer to clean, repackage, and build data pipelines to help Democrats win elections and empower progressives across the country. In this role, you’ll report to our Analytics Engineering Lead and partner with a Product Manager and data team peers.

About the Role:
  • We’re looking for folks who care as much about data quality as they do about electing Democrats. We’re a small team with a big footprint. The data we manage flows directly to volunteers and organizers across the nation, influencing strategy from school board elections to Presidential campaigns and everything in between. If you like the idea of debugging a geocoding pipeline in the morning and releasing a high-stakes predictive modeling dataset by the afternoon—you’ll fit right in.
  • Our team designs and maintains the core data products that make raw, messy data usable at scale. We build the ETL infrastructure that makes complex multi-sourced data accessible, accurate, and actionable. We take a user-centric approach to our work and support a portfolio of products that meet the needs of organizers, analysts, and strategists alike. Whether it’s integrating new Census data for our data science team, building innovative voter contact data models for campaigns, or building insightful analytics products for decision-makers, our work is what turns raw data into a strategic advantage.
  • We take data observability seriously, leveraging data contracts, SLAs, and automated tests to ensure reliability at scale. When our campaigns are building movements to win highly consequential elections, reliability can’t be an afterthought.
  • The work you do here won’t sit on a shelf. The pipelines you build and the datasets you shape will directly support decisions on the ground, like who to contact, where to invest limited resources, and how to measure our progress. In a cycle where every day counts, your contributions will help turn good strategy into meaningful victories.

About the Team:
  • This is high-impact, mission-centered work: ideal for someone who’s energized by progressive tech and wants to build systems that make a difference.
  • We’re a team that values clarity over polish, curiosity over ego, and sustainability over burnout. We believe good ideas can come from anywhere, that accountability and empathy can coexist, and that work should feel meaningful without consuming your whole life. Our team values progress over perfection, and we are unafraid to chart a path forward, even in the face of ambiguity.
  • If you’re looking for a place where you can challenge assumptions, grow your skills, support your teammates, and help build tools that move the needle in real-world organizing, we’d love to hear from you.

About You (Qualifications):
  • We don’t need candidates to check every box on this list. Think of these qualifications as a guide rather than a strict set of requirements. If you’re excited about the role and feel like you can thrive on our team, we want you to apply!
  • You write clean, well-organized SQL and know how to structure reusable data pipelines.
  • You’ve worked with large, complex datasets—especially those that weren’t tidy to begin with.
  • You enjoy building things with others, not just for them, and believe the best products come from thoughtful partnerships.
  • You’ve used tools like dbt or Airflow to build and maintain production workflows. These could include tools like Dagster, Databricks, AWS Glue, or Dataform.
  • You’re pragmatic and adaptable, able to make progress even when the underlying data is imperfect.
  • You’re comfortable with the Google Cloud Platform, especially BigQuery and GCS.
  • You can explain technical tradeoffs clearly to both engineers and non-technical collaborators.
  • You’ve worked in fast-paced environments where priorities shift quickly.
  • You’re the kind of person who can spot a gap, isn’t afraid to propose a solution, and enjoys rolling up your sleeves.
  • You’ve spent time on a campaign or you've worked with political data before.
  • 1-2 years experience preferred
