Director of Board, State and Member Relations

The National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) is a dynamic and influential organization dedicated to representing dairy farmers and cooperatives across the United States. We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as the Director of Board, State, and Member Relations.

In this role, the Director will be responsible for fostering strong relationships with NMPF’s members, sponsors, and state affiliates while driving membership growth and engagement. Additionally, the Director will provide support for planning and executing NMPF’s annual meeting and board meetings.

Responsibilities:

Member Relations, Engagement and Development

·       Primary contact for members, farmers, and executives.

·       Solicit new member cooperatives and associate members.

·       Write a quarterly summary of NMPF activities for distribution with quarterly dues invoices.

·       Review membership dues receivable and follow up with members on outstanding invoices.

·       Write memos and correspondence for CEO and other senior leaders as necessary.

·       Ensure membership database content population, accuracy and efficient use.

 

Meeting planning

·       Liaison to DMI on joint annual meeting arrangements; assist with site selection, meeting scheduling, speaker acquisition, presentations, rehearsals, NMPF awards, and programming

·       Recruit and retain sponsors of annual meeting activities

·       Compose annual presentation for NMPF Chair to membership; other speeches and presentations as necessary

·       Liaise with state associations, including arranging webinar meetings.

Governance

·       Draft agenda for board meetings; assemble content for presentations to board

·       Track committees and work with Chair and CEO to manage committee assignments and the nominating process

·       Maintain and update NMPF by-laws       

·       Arrange onboarding meetings for new member company CEOs

Education and Experience

·       Minimum of ten years of experience in membership development and meeting experience.

·       Experience in trade associations a plus.

·       Experience in non-profit governance a plus.

·       Experience in content development, writing, editing and proofreading.  

·       Experience and proficiency in project management

·       Knowledge of the agriculture industry and its key players is a plus

·       Ability to interact, engage confidently and communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute upon necessary work streams.

·       Strong relationship management with excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 products including Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.
