Sanitation Lead

The Sanitation Lead will report directly to the FSQA (Food Safety Quality Assurance) Manager. The Sanitation Lead will assist in performing sanitation tasks across the facility and lead 5-6 junior team members in their sanitation duties. Sanitation at Tovala occurs in a rotation of activities, including but not limited to cleaning floors and surfaces, taking out trash, breaking down and disposing of boxes, washing commercial dishes and cooking implements, etc. These activities occur across the facility to include a commercial dish pit, commercial kitchen, food production environment, receiving, shipping, break room, bathrooms, and offices. While this position will work a consistent schedule, the schedule will include working on weekends and some holidays. The shift is generally 6:00 am - 3:00 pm with regular overtime.


Essential Functions
  • Clean and sanitize production equipment, floors, walls, and other surfaces using wet cleaning methods and pre-mixed chemical agents.
  • Ensure compliance with cleaning and sanitation performance standards.
  • Lead and assist in disinfecting all surfaces in food production areas.
  • Participate in pre-operation inspections of cleaned equipment.
  • Support a food-safe environment through teamwork and proper sanitation training.
  • Oversee the cleaning of bathrooms, break rooms, and cafeterias.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain clean, high-quality production surfaces.
  • Follow GMP protocols and use PPE as required.
  • Manage and organize cleaning supply inventory.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervision.

Education, Experience, Licenses, and/or Certifications Required
  • 2+ years of experience in sanitation
  • 1+ year of leadership experience 
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic skills with cleaning solutions, including preparation and dilution of chemicals
  • Possess or willing to obtain a Food Handlers Permit


Physical Demands
  • Comfortable working in hot and cold temperature environments (-10F to 90F)
  • Sitting Standing and/or walking
  • Lifting up to 50lbs
  • Vision for machine or computer operations


$22.50 - $22.50 an hour
