Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Automated Performance & Application Department (APAD) is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Automated Technician Group (ATG) Technician.
The primary responsibility of this role is validating embedded systems within a simulated environment by utilizing specialized hardware to test system components under various conditions, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
What you’ll be doing
Setting up test configurations, executing test cases, monitoring system responses, identifying issues, and collaborating with engineers to trouble shoot and refine system designs
Configure HIL systems with appropriate hardware and software simulations to replicate real-world scenarios
Develop and execute test cases based on system requirements and specifications
Monitor system behavior during testing, recording data and identifying anomalies.
Analyze test results to identify defects and malfunctions within the system under test
Collaborate with engineers to diagnose root causes of issues and propose solutions
Document and report test failures and findings effectively.
Develop and implement automated test scripts to improve efficiency and repeatability of test processes
Maintain and update test automation frameworks as needed.
Work closely with software developers, system engineers, and other stakeholders to understand system requirements and testing objectives
Maintain functionality and safety of IVS test vehicles and facilities
Retrofit and maintain the functionality of ADS/ADAS sensors, data acquisition systems, and other equipment
Plan/execute public road ADAS / ADS performance evaluations
Plan/execute closed course ADAS / ADS performance evaluations
Perform ADAS / ADS function evaluations
What you bring
Associates in Technical Field OR equivalent work experience (2yrs)
Strong grasp of the principles and methodologies of HIL testing, including its purpose and benefits
Knowledge of electronic control units (ECU's), sensors, actuators, and other relevant hardware components
Familiarity with HIL simulation software
Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues that arise during HIL testing, including hardware and software malfunctions
Effective in communication skills to collaborate with engineers, developers, and other stakeholders
Able to use data acquisition equipment
Ability to provide vehicle troubleshooting support via phone or video conference
Experience in updating vehicle systems software and confirming functionality
Experience interpreting electrical systems drawings, specifications, manuals, wire diagrams, and standards
OBD (On-Board Diagnostic), CAN (Controller Area Network) tool use, experience, and understanding to troubleshoot system issues
Skilled in the use of hand and shop tools to build test fixtures, disassemble and assemble vehicles
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Willingness to travel ~30% - 50%
