The Healthy Families Lab at the University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join an exciting research project focused on sleep health equity. This position is funded by CIHR and is part of the Canadian Sleep Research Consortium. It aims to explore disparities in sleep health and their impact on well-being.

Position Details:

  • Location: University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada
  • Start Date: Flexible
  • Duration: 1 year, with possible extension
  • Funding: Competitive salary in accordance with UBC postdoctoral salary scales, benefits included.

Project Overview:

This project examines how socioeconomic, racial/ethnic, and environmental factors influence sleep health and access to sleep-related resources. The successful candidate will contribute to study design, data collection, analysis, and the development of interventions aimed at reducing sleep disparities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting and analyzing research on sleep health equity
  • Leading and contributing to academic publications and conference presentations
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including researchers, community partners, and policymakers
  • Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
  • Contributing to grant applications and knowledge translation efforts related to intersectionality and equity in sleep research

Qualifications:

  • PhD in psychology, public health, epidemiology, neuroscience, or a related field
  • Strong background in health disparities, or social determinants of health, sleep expertise is preferred but for the right candidate can be taught
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods
  • Strong statistical and programming skills (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, or other relevant tools)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Offer:
