Position Summary: 

Performs selected tasks to support the delivery of safe, effective, and cost-efficient patient care as delegated by the RN or technical staff. Under the supervision of the RN or technical staff, independently scrubs during diagnostic procedures and Operates radiological and other ancillary equipment used during cath lab procedures. Performs selected diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures within the guidelines of training. Provides assistance in pre and post catheterization patient care, transporting, transferring and lifting patients. Performs cleaning Functions in the patient care area. is under the direct supervision of the Senior Cardiac Cath RN/Technologist.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Utilizes equipment in department appropriately
  • Scrubs during routine diagnostic procedures
  • Transports all patients from other units to the cardiac catheterization laboratory while maintaining a safe environment. Monitor patient’s vital signs and provide emotional support during transportation
  • Assists in cleaning procedure rooms in a timely manner to facilitate rapid turnover
  • 5. Performs routine patient preparations
  • Displays basic patient assessment skills and notifies nurse or physician as patient condition warrants.
  • Provides emotional support to patients
  • Provides patient teaching based on the patient teaching plan
  • Exhibits a basic knowledge base of cardiovascular diseases
  • Completes clinical supply inventory, ensuring that each room is complete with the appropriate level of supplies required to perform procedures
  •  Applies telephone etiquette
  • Maintains certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BCLS). Assists in appropriate therapy during emergency situations. Is familiar with the emergency cart and checks the cart per departmental policy. Helps to restock the ER cart and other supplies in the room daily
  • Attends continuing education classes/in-services to remain abreast of new technology devices and procedures in invasive cardiology. May assist in orientation of new staff members to the cath lab
  • Participates in departmental TQL plan
  • On-call participation is required upon completion of orientation
  • Must be willing to work over-time as required
  • Will perform other duties as assigned to enhanced patient care and efficiency 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

 

Education and Licensure: 

 

  • High School graduate or GED required

 

Minimum Experience: 

  • Two (2) years’ experience in a health care setting providing patient care 
  • AHA BLS-CPR - 14 Days
