Job Summary:

Medical Surgical Critical Care—This unit houses critical care patients needing ICU and PCU levels of care. With 24 large private rooms patients are provided a healing quiet space that allows for increased monitoring. Each room has full monitoring capabilities and is large enough to house pumps and ventilators without constricting the care team. ICU and PCU are both staffed using national standards of care. Ratios are 1:1 1:2 and 1:3.

 

A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues todevelop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition intopractice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas, listedbelow.Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, takingownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision makingand critical thinking, and patient safety.

 

 

Essential Duties:

  • Provides continuous cardiac monitoring arrhythmia recognition and intervention. 

  • Initiates and titrates multiple complex cardiac related infusions at higher doses. 

  • Manages intubated/mechanically ventilated patients. 

  • Manages patients with acute neurological/neurosurgical events. 

  • Manages acute trauma patients.

Qualifications

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities  and Training
  • Must meet the requirements of the year long program, including preparation work and class attendance
  • Must remain in a full-time position for the entirety of the year long program
  • Must be able to work and train on either night or day shifts including holidays
  • Must agree to terms and conditions of the program

Required Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing;
  • 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience
  • Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State in which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residency if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state
  • BLS certification - American Heart Association.  Additional certifications may be required based on population(s) served and services provided
