Job Description

The Content Development team is charged with identifying, codifying, and disseminating best instructional and leadership practices throughout Uncommon. The Operations Associate role drives the planning, execution, and evolution of the operational work of the team. This involves managing the operations and communications for large-scale, cross-regional PDs, Working Groups, and network-wide retreats. In addition, this role will play a role in managing the Instructional Inspections program for all K-12 schools. This requires preparing and teeing up key regional and school leaders (RSIs, RSOs, Principals, DOOs), designing, managing, and executing communication plans. Having an understanding of how our schools operate is critical to ensure effective support and very strong customer service skills.

 Operations Management:

  • Lead the operational planning and execution for large scale, cross-regional leadership professional development
  • Lead key pieces of the planning and execution of the highest quality operations for complex, multi-day organizational wide retreats that drive learning and development at multiple levels within the organization. 
  • Build and maintain project plans that ensure all tasks are completed effectively and efficiently including work streams such as facilitator support, venue/vendor management, cost-effective budgeting, organizing and disseminating materials (digital and print), communication, etc.
  • Iterate and improve operationalize systems to ensure the 80+ events/year are consistently operationally excellent so that facilitators and participants are 100% focused on instructional content.
  • Collect and analyze data on the efficacy of PD to determine how to improve operations and content for future years. 
  • Proactively and independently engage in deep levels of reflection to ensure a high bar of excellence is consistently
  • Work cross-functionally with Instructional team members to strategically build, maintain, and improve the team systems
  • Engaging in “all hands” needs as team needs arise

Instructional Inspections:

  • Project manage all aspects of Instructional Inspections
  • Partner with instructional teams and CSOs to ensure the workstream is iterated and improved and accounts for the shifting needs of schools
  • Troubleshooting and supporting leaders as needs arrive
  • Serve as the team representative

Videography:

  • Manage relationships with external vendors
  • Managing the scheduling of filming for Working Group participants
  • Create and manage systems that maximize our instructional team members' effectiveness in videography processes, video clips, and editing
  • Maintain the budget for video production and ensure invoices are processed on a timely matter

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

Experience Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of professional experience
    • 3+ years experience in leading high-quality events/workshops
    • 3+years experience in project management
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) & Google Workspace

Travel& Schedule:

  • 3 days in person in our central office
  • Travel is expected to school sites and other offices in NY, NJ, and MA. 
  • Up to 30% travel outside of NYC/Newark.
  • Events and school visits may occur in buildings with limited elevator accessibility and sometimes require assistance with set-up, which may include lifting and moving items up to 15 pounds.

Compensation

Compensation for this role is between $57,800 to $68,000. 

Starting pay is determined using various factors including but not limited to relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. If you meet all job description requirements you will likely receive an offer of $61,200.
