We are currently seeking an Intern to be a part of the Contracts & Procurement team at Urban Grid. The Contracts & Procurement Intern will be able to improve contract visibility, streamline reporting and standardize procurement data management. This position will be a part of providing strategic insights into supplier trends, technology advancements, and market shifts to enhance procurement and contracting strategies in the Solar Industry.

This is a paid internship that will start on or around June 2, 2025, with an end date of August 8, 2025.

During the 10-week program, interns will participate in virtual, company-wide and department meetings, virtual monthly Friday lunch & learn trainings and a culminating group presentation on your overall internship experience. The program is structured to provide exposure to careers in renewable energy, best practices in internal communications as part of a remote/ hybrid team and best of all, the opportunity to work and support a team of professionals who are experts in their field.

Responsibilities

  • Verify contract metadata within the Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system (e.g., LinkSquares).
  • Develop/revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for contract data entry, categorization, and retrieval.
  • Improve dashboards to track NDAs, Master Agreements, Addendums, Change Orders, and Supplier Contracts.
  • Identify inefficiencies and propose process automation opportunities.
  • Document best practices for supplier onboarding, PO issuance, contract approvals, and compliance tracking.
  • Work with internal stakeholders (Legal, Finance, Engineering) to clarify roles and responsibilities for the Contracts & Procurement process.
  • Conduct ongoing market assessments to identify emerging suppliers, technology innovations, and competitive trends in solar modules, inverters, transformers, and trackers.
  • Monitor global supply chain dynamics, including shipping costs, customs regulations, and policy shifts (e.g., IRA, AD/ACV tariffs) to provide actionable insights.
  • Intern will deliver final presentation during a lunch-and-learn in August showcasing what they learned during their internship and how they were able to leverage their academic experience to solve/revamp an issue/process.
  • Other duties assigned.

Location

This position will be in our Houston, TX Headquarters working a Hybrid 3 days a week in the office/ 2 days remote. Position will require a trip to one of the project sites VA.

Candidate to work full-time hours Monday - Friday during the summer duration of the internship.

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related field.
  • Interest in renewable energy
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to coordinate and communicate work with multiple disciplines, and team members.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong organizational capacity to simultaneously manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines and be able to quickly adapt to changes and shift priorities to meet project needs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in technology and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong work ethic and exceptionally high work standards

Interns will receive 24 hours of PTO, 2 paid holidays and a $60 monthly cell phone reimbursement during their internship.
