Entry-level Transportation Engineer

Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s South Portland, ME office is seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineer to join our growing Transportation practice. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transportation projects for major federal, state, and local clients.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of professionals in developing transportation design and solutions for a multitude of transportation and highway-related projects
  • Highway design
  • Drainage design
  • Traffic control development
  • Preliminary and final design plans
  • Contract documents, including specifications
  • Engineer’s construction cost estimates

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently as well as on a team
  • Engage with multi-discipline design team(s)
  • Ability to work in an office or virtual environment
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and committed
  • Strong computer skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering 
  • 0-1 years of professional transportation/highway engineering experience
  • EIT preferred
  • MicroStation / InRoads / OpenRoads, AutoCAD / Civil3D experience is a plus
