Overview

Provides occupational therapy interventions to designated patients under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist ("OT"). Assists in monitoring patient progress through observations and follows up with supervising therapist. Works under OT supervision as required under NY State Education law.• Implements occupational therapy services as prescribed in the plan of care for the patient and as directed by the Coordinator of COTA Services or the supervising OT. • Performs occupational therapy procedures and related tasks that have been selected and delegated by the Coordinator of COTA Services or the supervising OT. • Participates in educating the patients and family. • Reports observation of patient's performance and responses to services provided to the Coordinator of COTA Services or the supervising OT every two weeks (or sooner if indicated) and to other team members as directed. • May modify specific treatment procedures in accordance with the plan of care and COTA practice standards. • Documents and maintains service-related records, as directed by the Coordinator of COTA Services or the supervising OT. Submits documentation on a timely basis. • Initiates and maintains written and verbal communication to ensure coordinated, quality patient care. • Complies with established Agency policies, procedures and service standards. • Participates in in-service programs, QA review and interdisciplinary team meetings as requested and consults with other team members as necessary. • Ensures that an OT is present during the initial visit with the COTA and that the OT revisits, at minimum, every sixth visit or thirty days, whichever comes first. • Receives additional supervision as determined appropriate by the Rehabilitation Supervisor. Assists the Rehabilitation Supervisor in scheduling patient supervisory visits, as needed. • Assumes responsibility for continued professional growth. • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licenses and Certifications:
Certification and current registration as an occupational therapy assistant from New York State required Valid driver's license may be required, as determined by operational/regional needs required

Education:
Associate's Degree as an occupational therapy assistant from a NYS-approved program required Bilingual skills may be required, as determined by operational needs required

Work Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience as an occupational therapy assistant preferred Basic PC skills preferred

$30.71 - $38.41 Hourly
