How do you find the right company for you?

How do you find the right company - one you know is going to align with your values, and where you know that leadership is doing good work? 

I get this question a lot. So let’s talk about it…

First, you have to be clear on your values and your mission. 

Even if you don’t have these fully baked, you need to have clarity on what’s important to you so that you can drive the conversation.  

Once you know your values, then you can be very direct in your conversations - both your informational interviews and actual interviews. 

One of my favorite questions to ask when interviewing is, “How does your company live its values?”

See what they say. 

How do they respond? 

Are they ready with an answer or do they hesitate? 

Are they excited about the examples they share, or do they seem more withheld? Notice the energy in the room.
