(Remote) Data Specialist

The ideal candidate will join the Data Conversion team at Advanced Utility Systems, where they will play a crucial role in migrating and converting data from legacy databases to our core application database (CIS / MS SQL). Additionally, they will be responsible for handling reporting tasks, including the creation of customized reports and bill printing for our clients.

This remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in Canada and the US. The successful candidate will be working in the EST time zone.

What will be your impact?

• Use various tools and processes to complete data migrations from different data sources into Microsoft SQL Server in a timely and accurate manner for customer implementation.
• Work directly with customers to ensure that data conversion and reporting/analytics requirements and issues are addressed in a timely manner, as dictated by project schedules.
• Develop data mapping documentation, associated templates, and estimates for projects.
• Develop data conversion scripts for project-specific conversion tasks with emphasis on re-use and efficiency.
• Build reports, bill prints, and dashboards for new and existing customers.
• Communicate regularly with Project Managers and Implementation Specialists to ensure timelines are met and project risks are mitigated.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related discipline, or equivalent job experience.
• 3+ years of experience in data migration, with at least one full project cycle.
• Exceptional Microsoft SQL Server/T-SQL scripting skills to perform complex queries and write data conversion scripts.
• 1+ year of experience with Crystal Reports and Power BI.
• Experience with data warehouse design and data mining.
• Working knowledge of SQL admin database duties (Backup, restore, maintenance, performance, etc.).
• Travel internationally for meetings and conferences may be required.

What will make you stand out:

• Experience with Utility/Billing applications, or other CIS applications.
• Strong Oracle and/or PostgreSQL knowledge.
• Understanding of cloud based solutions and concepts.
• Experience installing, maintaining, and upgrading Oracle and MS SQL databases.
• Experience with Disaster Recovery database testing and recovery.
