POSITION OVERVIEW
The Business Development Manager is a key contributor to our company’s development efforts. This position will be responsible for identifying potential PV and BESS partnership opportunities and strategic acquisitions. The Business Development will also be responsible for coordinating with internal and external subject matter experts to facilitate evaluation of opportunities as well as advancing the transaction to closing.
The Business Development Manager reports to the SVP of Business Development or other senior management personnel that CEO of the Company may designate. This position may also require travel at least 50% of the time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Senior Management to identify and prioritize strategic acquisition targets for renewable energy opportunities by leading customer-focused, data-driven, multi-dimensional analysis incorporating input from cross-functional team members.
- Serve as key contact with counterparties and customers, and work to grow long-term relationships to secure additional business opportunities beyond initial projects.
- Identify and evaluate strategic projects and portfolio acquisitions.
- This individual will be the transaction lead on opportunities and will manage the creation of Non-Binding Offers (“NBO”), Negotiate Term Sheets and Purchase & Sale Agreements
- Maintain industry relationships, identify market trends, track policy developments, evaluate business strategies, and screen competitor offerings to create profitable business opportunities for the company.
- This individual will work to expand industry relationships by attending conferences, outreach by phone, and any other means necessary to build, expand, and maintain industry relationships with counterparties.
- Coordinate with and effectively manage internal and external subject matter experts to provide evaluations, analyses, or reports that support business opportunities.
- Support the Director of Business Development with the overall strategy.
- Track project risks throughout the development cycle; provide risk assessments and mitigations to Senior Management.
- Construct presentation material to support meetings with Senior Management.
- Participate in the development of key account and utility relationships, support origination of contracts with such key accounts.
- Maintain and provide suggestions for project development tracking and reporting.
- Represent 174PG at industry events and network to enhance relationships with counterparties, customers, and other stakeholders in the industry.
- All other duties as assigned by Senior Management.
- Regular attendance, in accordance with the company’s attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of increasingly responsible experience in the M&A or development of renewable energy, particularly solar PV, power projects in U.S., business development, project development, marketing, or comparable experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Business, or similar discipline (Graduate degree preferred)
- Willingness to travel, up to 50% of the time
- Previous applicable experience working in a commercial negotiation environment with excellent commercial management, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Experience in managing the solar energy development process.
- Intimate knowledge of the renewable energy power market and its dynamics; the ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends, including building and maintaining strong relationships with off-takers and industry leaders.
- Impressive track record closing renewable energy deals
- Strong project management skills including creating and managing project budgets and schedules.
- Strong prioritization, communication, and organizational skills; and the ability to quickly work on new tasks and accommodate changing circumstances.
- Must have an entrepreneurial attitude and a diplomatic approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
$125,000 - $200,000 a year
