This Research and Data Analyst VISTA will be hosted by Habitat for Humanity of DuPage County and Chicago South Suburbs (DHFH-CSS) located in Wheaton, IL. DHFH-CSS is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Located just outside of Chicago in both urban and suburban service areas, DHFH-CSS is an exciting affiliate to expand your knowledge of and create positive change in the lives of families affected by a wide variety of issues related to housing insecurity. If you are passionate about affordable housing and want to have an impact on others while expanding your professional experience, DHFH-CSS is the place to do it. At DHFH-CSS, we provide free housing and utilities, ongoing professional training, and 1-on-1 mentorship in addition to the benefits provided through the AmeriCorps VISTA program. The Research and Data Analyst will make a lasting impact by creating outreach documents to alert local residents of housing issues affecting our area. This is a great opportunity to sharpen data analysis and storytelling skills to effectively encourage action in the affordable housing domain. We are seeking an organized individual with marketing skills who loves data. No experience is necessary, but a passion for serving others is a must. Some nights and weekends are required, but no overtime is required. Housing is provided at no cost for this position.
Member Duties : The Research and Data Analyst VISTA will analyze research reports, briefs, and other publications regarding housing and equitable development policy issues with a focus on racial equity and community economic development. They will create at least three memos, fact sheets, blog posts, or other work product on the policy issues selected and discuss with Advocacy staff. The VISTA will document new processes and procedures for data gathering according to affiliate’s SWI/SOP templates and edit as necessary. They will also identify at least one policy issue to draft a report or long-form article and develop plan with Advocacy staff to publicize the report or article, including sharing the report or article through social media and conducting community presentations.
