About the Team
HTC Creative Labs is a global team of designers, artists, engineers, and researchers that delivers design strategy and incubates new products and experiences for the HTC portfolio. This team is responsible for much of HTC's most significant design work over the past decade. Our current focus is on creating next-generation XR software and hardware experiences for the HTC VIVE brand. Our process relies on the collaboration of exceptionally talented individuals to create products that offer functional benefits and emotional resonance to our target audiences.
About the Role
The HTC VIVE Creative Labs Team is seeking a talented 3D Artist with experience in design, modeling, optimization, texturing, shading, lighting, rendering, and a passion for creating innovative work.
The responsibilities of the 3D Artist include creating still and moving images using computers, creating 3D models and products, and managing multiple projects while adhering to deadlines.
To be considered for this position, you must make sure your portfolio, website, or other work samples are easily accessible.
Additional job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Contribute to an evolving design culture and process at Creative Labs and throughout HTC's worldwide design organization.
  • Utilize conceptual thinking skills in collaboration with designers from all disciplines to create innovative VR user experiences.
  • Collaborate with 3d, visual, and interaction designers to help illustrate scenarios that communicate design concepts to team members, product groups, and executives.
  • Help translate concept art into immersive 3D experiences.
  • Help to establish and build an efficient production pipeline.
  • Help to inspire, excite, and motivate other departments.
  • Deliver AAA standard of work for a wide range of 3D tasks.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Abilities):
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience demonstrating expert modeling/texturing/lighting/rendering capabilities in Max, Maya, or equivalent software.
  • 2+ years of experience designing for VR/AR/XR or other spatial experiences.
  • Have an eye for color, scale, and composition to define an experience.
  • Experience with real-time game engines like Unity or Unreal (preferably Unity).
  • Be able to create believable textures and lighting effects with optimal use of real-time shaders.
  • Be able to optimize for maximum fidelity within performance limitations.
  • A strong portfolio of previous work and completed projects.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Abilities):
  • Experience shipping games and/or applications from concept to creation.
Working Conditions:
  • Primary work location is indoors.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and long periods of detailed work with VR equipment.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

At the time of posting, HTC's estimated annual base salary for this position is $100,389 - $130,800 USD. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including candidate skills, qualifications, experience, business needs, and geographic location. This position is also eligible for participation in our discretionary bonus programs.
