Designs and models prints meeting specified instructions. Initiates, monitors, and completes 3D prints on various additive machines.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Utilizes expertise in pre-processing and post-processing technologies (3D CAD, sand blasting and other methods for the surface finishing of parts, machining for tolerances, 3D scanning, painting and dyeing, etc.) to lead the overall day to day operations of the Institute for Human Neuroscience’s 3D Printing Core.
Initiates, monitors, and completes 3D prints on various additive machines (spanning numerous technologies) that have unique strengths.
Designs and models prints for customers meeting specified instructions.
Communicates with customers to ensure appropriate additive technologies are used in design and construction of printed parts.
Removes support materials from 3D printed parts with meticulous attention-to-detail.
Performs post-processes such as sand blasting, bonding, finishing, cleaning and visual inspections.
Executes successful prints for both internal and external customers in a timely manner.
Prioritizes print jobs based on customer deadlines and overall needs of the Core.
Develops and refines pricing structure for print jobs for both internal and external customers.
Listens to and understands customer goals, needs, problems, expectations, and timelines, and creating products that fit their goals.
Manages and tracks consumables, raw materials, supplies, and inventory (including ordering and proper storage/unpacking) for the 3D printing core.
Troubleshoots and coordinates repairs and preventative maintenance with machine manufacturers.
Maintains an efficient and organized 3D printing core operation.
Analyzes manufacturing performance to provide continual improvement to the process at large and create standard operating procedures.
Strategizes with leadership on the development of new product offerings and revenue streams for the 3D Printing Core.
Identifies new 3D printing instrumentation to ensure the Core remains at the cutting edge.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to get tasks and assignments done in a timely manner.
Takes initiative on new projects and ideas.
Detail oriented (tracking data, product quality, and following up).
Ability to adapt to issue that arise during printing processes.
Excellent communication skills.
Desire to continue learning about new technologies and their applications.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum 3 years of experience with additive manufacturing technologies and processes or similar required.
SolidWorks/OnShape/Spaceclaim/CAD/Tinkercad experience or equivalent required.
Magics/Netfabb experience or equivalent required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of transfer or hire required.
Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification within 30 days of transfer or hire required.
