Here at Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC), we are inclusive and dedicated, working to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel.

We are looking for a friendly, well-organised and adaptable AA Administration Assistant to join our encouraging and welcoming team of dedicated military and civilian healthcare professionals and Administrative staff here at HMS Nelson, Portsmouth.

This a full-time role for 37 hours per week. Requests to work flexibly and/or part time will be considered, taking into account business needs. Please note the salary will be pro-rata where part time hours are undertaken.

Job description

The HMS Nelson Medical Centre provides comprehensive general practice and occupational health services to all of the military personnel either employed within the Naval Base or the Southern Region. It also prepares military medical personnel for their deployed roles.

As the successful post holder you will be working as a member of the DPHC team, helping to provide a comprehensive, efficient and effective service in accordance with Ministry of Defence (MOD) and DPHC policies and procedures.

Person specification

Main duties of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring hospital appointment letters are scanned, attached to relevant Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DMICP) record and a copy is emailed to patients.
  • Emailing any referrals that cannot be processed using the Electronic Referral System (ERS), as directed by the Administrative Officer (AO) and/or Leading Medical Assistant (LMA).
  • Producing and maintaining desk instructions for all responsibilities and tasks undertaken.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station which is based on business assessment of where the work is best done) and working from home as a personal choice (if the role is suitable for this). If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
