Academy Scout

The New York Red Bulls are one of 29 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). RBNY, one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, have competed in the league since its founding in 1996. The Red Bulls play home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. The three-time MLS Supporters' Shield Winners are owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.

You will focus on all aspects of player scouting and recruitment for the New York Red Bulls Academy teams, although you will also support NYRB II (MLS Next Pro) team. You will be positioned within the academy scouting department at the Red Bulls Training Facility located at Melanie Lane, Whippany, New Jersey. You will at times be expected to work during non-conventional business hours including evenings and weekends. You will report to the Head of Academy Talent Identification & Recruitment.

• 
  PLAYER IDENTIFICATION
  
  • Identify players using live scouting, video scouting, and data analysis.
  • Network with NYRB affiliate clubs to identify and monitor the top talents who may be of NYRB Academy quality.
  • Stay ahead of trends using research and data analytics to enhance our advantage in the market.
  • Attend games, showcases, and other talent identification events as assigned by the Head of Talent ID & Recruitment, Academy Director, and Head of Scouting.
  • Attend all Scouting Department meetings.
• 
  REPORTING
  
  • Create both written and video reports on individual players to feed into our scouting database.
  • Manage the daily upkeep of the internal scouting database.
  • Build a portfolio of player research and information in advantageous territories.
  • Communicate daily with the Head of Talent ID & Recruitment.
  • Create a database that tracks and monitors players who have been released or that were on the cusp of joining the Academy.
• 
  RECRUITMENT
  
  • Coordinate trial visits for prospective players with academy staff.
  • Timely responses to phone calls, emails, messages, or other inquiries about joining the Academy.
  • Facilitate the communication on acceptance into the Academy for successful trialists and recruited players along with the Academy Coordinator
• 
  ADMINISTRATIVE SCHEDULING
  
  • Collaborate with the Head of Academy Talent ID & Recruitment and the Academy Manager with regards to the scheduling and implenmentation of the "Pathway to Pros" program.
  • Assist in the coordination of schedules for part-time Academy scouts and per diem scouts and ensure the completion of their scouting reports.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings with NYRB affiliate club leads and other club directors to assist in securing trials for their top talents.

EXPERIENCE

• 1+ years of experience using a variety of performance analysis and video editing software.
• 1+ years experience in high perfomance soccer scouting.
• Knowledge of soccer, former player or coaching experience is required.
• An enthusiastic approach to identifying players for our club.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Experience in statistical analysis is preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Required to work varying schedules including nights and weekends.

• USSF Scouting License preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred or experience in lieu of degree.
• Travel 40-50%
