Account Supervisor - Healthcare and Medical Practice

DKC's Healthcare and Medical Team is seeking smart, energetic, communications and media relations experts to join the firm’s growing healthcare practice.


The ideal candidates will have 3 - 7 years of experience working at a PR agency with a background in healthcare, non-profit healthcare delivery systems, healthcare advocacy, and/or academic medical centers.


They’ll come equipped with strong media contacts, extensive experience in client relations, a proven track record in media relations, excellent writing skills, and strong attention to detail.

They will be comfortable working on teams in a shifting, fast-paced environment, and they will be quick studies across a variety of topical issues.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

Must excel at sophisticated media relations, demonstrate an ability to help create strategic plans and be an effective leader of teams. This is an exciting role tasked with managing the multiple responsibilities of generating meaningful publicity, handling increasingly complex writing assignments, and participating in strategic development sessions for clients.

Specific requirements are as follows:


Strategy:

  • Must be able to thoroughly understand clients’ strategic imperatives/business objectives and actively participate in the development of strategic plans, communications programs, etc.

-Must be able to offer senior DKC staff and - where appropriate - the client opinion and direction during the development of strategic plans, communications programs, etc.

  • Must be a creative thinker who will look to potential partnerships and activations that will drive consumer press interest

Writing:

  • Must be proficient in the creation of all press materials such as pitch letters, press releases, fact sheets, bios, etc. in accordance with the client’s strategic objectives, brand identity, etc.
  • Must be able to clearly and concisely define key messaging to advance a client’s voice
  • Must be proficient in the creation of internal and external documents such as memoranda, client updates, etc.
  • Must be able to direct subordinate staff on the creation of all materials and serve as a buffer to the team leader. It is the Account Supervisor’s responsibility to ensure that materials executed by subordinate staff are 100 percent satisfactory before they are submitted to senior DKC staff or the client.

Media Relations/Publicity:

  • Must have deep relationships at multiple levels at major national and New York-based traditional and new media outlets as well as outlets relevant to his / her clients.

-Must be able to implement – with significant autonomy outside of regularly scheduled meetings - impactful publicity with the frequency to accomplish the client’s strategic imperatives/business objectives.

  • Must take responsibility for creating and executing forums, sessions, social engagements, etc. where fellow DKC colleagues can meet and/or develop relationships with relevant members of the media.

Client Service:

  • Must meet all deadlines under any circumstances
  • Must be able to communicate comfortably, and in an informed/prepared manner with senior DKC staff and independently with clients daily.
  • Must instill confidence in senior DKC staff and clients.

Leadership:

  • Must demonstrate a willingness and ability to lead. This includes professionally directing and supervising subordinate staff, problem-solving and mentoring.
  • Must hold subordinate staff to deadlines and quality standards.
  • Must be willing to recommend termination should a subordinate not fulfill his/her job requirements.

New Business:

  • Must show a willingness to learn about originating new business, participate in new business sessions and take part in pitches.
  • Must have the ability to originate new business.

The salary range for this role is commensurate with experience: $80k - $105k.
