Accounting Specialist - Financial Analyst

THE JOB / Financial Analyst

Octagon is looking for someone to join our Finance Team as a Financial Analyst. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our account teams in analyzing and reconciling our projects for our clients. You will be the conduit that connects our account teams, our shared service center billing team, and our local finance team to produce high quality timely financial results. We need a self-starter who can operate independently, drive toward results and work within deadlines.

THE WORK YOU'LL DO

  • Liaison between our account teams, local finance, and billers at our shared service center
  • Provide support to the Events group for our Golf event.
  • Process monthly financials
  • Work with biller to process Sponsorship Invoices
  • Work with account teams to reconcile costs vs budget.
  • Provide support to the Payment Service Client group.
  • Reconcile deferred revenue fee balances.
  • Reconcile accrued income balances.
  • Process deferred revenue transfers and Intercompany transfers
  • Work with account teams to reconcile costs vs budget.
  • Project analysis/management for our Payment Services Client
  • Reconcile deferred revenue fee balances.
  • Reconcile accrued income balances.
  • Work with account teams to reconcile costs vs budget.
  • Follow up with account teams on billing issues to ensure timely and accurate processing of all invoices in accordance with client contracts or estimates.
  • Work with client leads with questions they have about their job cost packages.
  • Work with account teams on open jobs and WIP balances on jobs.
  • Work with Omaha billers and account teams to close jobs timely.
  • Communicate with revenue team on any contract/revenue changes.
  • Direct communication with account teams and/or clients on client purchase order issues
  • Accounts receivable aging. Follow up with account teams on delinquent aging items.
  • Review client portals monthly to confirm invoices status, for rejected/or invoices not loaded or approved.
  • Cash Applications - Work with Omaha cash applications group on unapplied cash items and wires
  • Communicate with our domestic and international office for intercompany transactions and related documents.
  • Time reports – review time for accuracy
  • Assist with annual and quarterly audits.
  • Tackle other reasonably related duties and unscheduled projects as assigned.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or related
  • 2-3 years' experience in the accounting field
  • Ability to identify and efficiently resolve issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with staff at all levels.
  • Proven high level of initiative, motivation, and ability to achieve desired results.
  • Extremely diligent, detailed, and organized
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook required.

Compensation + Benefits:

The base range for this position is $56,000 to $60,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee's/applicant's background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
