Accounts Payable Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Manager to oversee the financial operations of our organization's accounts payable department. As the Accounts Payable Manager, you will be responsible for managing the entire accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments. Your expertise in financial management and team leadership will be crucial in maintaining smooth and efficient payment procedures while upholding compliance with company policies and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead the accounts payable team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a high level of productivity and accuracy.
- Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice verification, coding, data entry, and payment processing.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and credit card transactions.
- Review and reconcile vendor statements, resolving any discrepancies or outstanding issues promptly.
- Collaborate with purchasing and procurement teams to validate purchase orders and receipts against invoices and contracts.
- Monitor cash flow and payment schedules to optimize working capital and cash management.
- Maintain vendor relationships, addressing inquiries and handling any payment-related concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Develop and enforce accounts payable policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Oversee month-end and year-end accounts payable closing activities, including accruals and reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and analysis related to accounts payable, providing insights to support management decisions.
- Work closely with internal and external auditors during audits to provide necessary documentation and address inquiries.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and changes in regulations to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven work experience as an Accounts Payable Manager or similar role, with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable principles, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems for accounts payable processing.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to resolve issues proactively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with vendors, team members, and other departments.
- Solid understanding of financial controls, compliance requirements, and internal audit procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines while maintaining quality work.
